Laura Cortes serves as the Accounting Manager of GFG Real Estate Asset Management, LLC.
Laura oversees the full accounting cycle responsibilities for the group such as financial reporting, ensuring all accounting practices comply with legal guidelines and established accounting principles, overseeing company internal control and policies, corporate governance, regulatory compliance (SEC and FINRA), liaison between external accounting teams for all matters related to audit and taxation, payroll and treasury management. Laura has been in the financial services industry since 2010. Prior to joining GFG Real Estate Asset Management, LLC in 2011, Laura worked at State Farm Insurance Company in Bloomington, IL as a tax associate in the corporate tax department. In addition, she was involved in preparing local tax declarations for fire and zoning districts. She has had substantial experience in the private sector leading all aspects of accounting, focusing primarily on investment fund accounting.
In addition to her professional experience, Laura holds a Master’s degree in Accounting and Taxation from Florida International University in Miami, FL. Laura also completed her undergraduate studies at Florida International University, earning a B.S. degree in Accounting and Economics. She is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed in Florida and is a member of the American Institute of CPAs.
